Governor Profiles

Andrew Brankin- Chair of Governors

C/O St Anthony's Catholic Primary School

Bradford Rd

BD14 6HW

As a former pupil of St Anthony’s I was delighted to be asked to join the Governing Body as a Foundation Governor in 2011 and was elected as Chair in September 2016. I currently have two daughters who attend St Anthony’s and am committed to supporting and helping to develop Catholic Education, which I believe gives our children the best opportunity to flourish in an environment centred around Christ and his teachings.  I am teacher at a Secondary School in Bradford and am part of the extended leadership team with responsibility for both Humanities and the Sixth Form. I still enjoy teaching after two decades of service and relish being in the classroom teaching History.  I am also a Scout Leader of local Scout Group and enjoy planning all the activities and adventures that we offer to young people across Clayton and Bradford.

Fr Simon Winn- Foundation Governor

I have the experience of working as a priest chaplain to a High School in Leeds for two years, and for four years to a Young Offenders Institution. The Bishop has appointed me three times as Foundation Governor to Primary Schools. The first was for four years at a school in Castleford, the second for seven years at a school in Barnoldswick. I was appointed to St Anthony's School in September 2017 along with becoming Parish Priest. I have found being a Foundation Governor a rewarding experience and look forward to the years to come in my present appointment.

Sharon Langford - Foundation Governor

After having worked at St Anthony’s School for 32 years I took retirement in December of 2020. I was honoured to be asked to become a Foundation Governor in April 2021 and was elected as Vice Chair of Governors in October 2021. I have two grandchildren, a newly born grandson and a granddaughter who attends St Anthony’s School. I am passionate about the education of our children, not only academically but also socially and emotionally. For many years I have actively been involved with helping families to overcome the challenges they face in today’s ever changing society. I trained with Bradford Council as a Mental Health Champion for Children and Young People and have a BA Honours Degree in Social Psychology and Child Development. I have lived in Clayton for over 40 years and am an active member of St Anthony’s Church, the Parish and the wider local community.

Andrew McVeigh  - Foundation Governor

 Jonathan Kendall- Staff Governor

I am Deputy Headteacher and staff governor and have been so for many years. I came to St. Anthony's school in September of 1993 as a year 2 class teacher responsible for Key Stage 1 SATs. Since then I have taught in year 4, 5 and 6 as class teacher, and have supported the teaching in year 3. This is a wonderful school to work in, with fabulous colleagues, who all care so deeply about the pupils. It is my role on the Governing body to address the concerns of the staff who work in school and to feedback decisions taken at meetings.
